A wartime Ford pickup at 1:12 — one of the last civilian trucks built before the production lines were turned over entirely to the war.

Handcrafted in iron with rolling metal wheels and hand-painted finish, with a separate cargo bed, running boards and the heavy front-end styling of the 1942 model year.

The truck

The 1942 model year barely happened. Civilian vehicle production in the United States was ordered to stop in February 1942, weeks after the model year began, and did not resume until late 1945. Trucks built in that short window are scarce, and many were requisitioned and used up.

Wartime models also lost their brightwork — chrome was restricted, so bumpers and trim were painted instead.
