The machine

The word bulldozer originally meant the blade, not the vehicle. It was an attachment bolted onto an agricultural crawler tractor, and for years you bought the tractor from one company and the dozer blade from another.

Tracks are the reason these work at all. Spreading the weight across a long footprint drops ground pressure low enough to operate on mud that would swallow a wheeled machine, and gives enough grip to push a load rather than just spin. A good piece for a site office or a contractor's desk.
