Commissioned in 1982, the USS Michigan (SSGN-727) is a converted Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine transformed into a guided missile submarine. It plays a critical role in supporting special operations forces and precision strike capabilities, carrying up to 154 Tomahawk missiles and hosting advanced SEAL delivery systems. This 36-inch handcrafted model is carefully constructed using the traditional plank-on-frame technique and high-quality woods like Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany. From the distinctively modified missile deck to the detailed sonar dome, each element is recreated to reflect the submarine's unique post-conversion design. Construction usually takes between 3 to 6 months, depending on design details and chosen materials. We don't ship until you are 100% satisfied. USS Michigan (SSGN-727) was originally commissioned in 1982 as an Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine. In the early 2000s, it was converted to a guided missile submarine (SSGN) to support modern naval warfare needs.
