The USS Constitution, also known as Old Ironsides, is the world's oldest commissioned warship still afloat and remains one of America's most treasured naval landmarks. Launched in 1797, this three-masted heavy frigate was constructed primarily of dense southern live oak, making its hull exceptionally strong. Measuring 204 feet in length with a hull thickness of 21 inches-greater than the 18-inch standard of the time-the ship was built to endure the fiercest naval battles.
