The painted edition of Cook's Endeavour — the same plank-on-frame hull, finished in period Royal Navy colours instead of natural wood.
Paint changes what the model says. Natural hardwood reads as craft; the painted hull reads as the ship, ochre topsides over a black wale, exactly as she would have looked leaving Plymouth in August 1768.

The ship
Built as a Whitby collier and bought into the Navy in 1768, Endeavour carried James Cook to Tahiti, around New Zealand, and to the east coast of Australia. She was chosen for her strength and shallow draught — a decision vindicated when she struck the Great Barrier Reef in 1770 and survived being run ashore for repair.
