The ship that carried 102 passengers to Cape Cod in 1620, built to our Admiral Line standard.
Plank on frame in western red cedar, rosewood and mahogany — each hull plank laid individually over a wooden frame. Fully assembled and ready to display.
Construction
- Plank-on-frame hull with the high stern castle and deep waist of an early-17th-century merchantman
- Three masts with hand-knotted standing and running rigging
- Hand-stitched linen sails, including the square spritsail beneath the bowsprit
- Deck detail: capstan, ship's boat, gratings, ladders and rails

History
Mayflower sailed from Plymouth on 16 September 1620 after her consort Speedwell proved unseaworthy and turned back twice. She was bound for the Virginia colony; storms and dead reckoning put her far north instead. On 21 November she anchored off the tip of Cape Cod. No drawing of the ship survives from her lifetime — every reconstruction, including this one, is built from the dimensions of comparable merchantmen of about 180 tons: roughly 90 feet, three masts, two decks.
