The Seguin Tugboat, launched in Maine in 1884 and named after Seguin Island, was once the nation's oldest steam-powered tugboat. She spent 20 years towing wooden sailing ships along the Kennebec River and pulling cargo barges along the Atlantic coast. In the early 1900s, she moved to New York Harbor, where she guided vessels through one of the world's busiest ports before eventually returning to Maine. After serving for decades, Seguin retired in 1967. Despite restoration efforts by the Maine Maritime Museum, severe hull rot made her beyond saving, and she was sadly scrapped.
