The ship
Formerly the merchantman Wicked Wench, burned on Lord Beckett's order and raised from the seabed by Davy Jones, she was rechristened the Black Pearl by Jack Sparrow. Across the Pirates of the Caribbean films she outruns everything she meets — including the Flying Dutchman. Her speed comes from sail area; her reputation comes from those black sails, intimidation by day and camouflage by night.
