Why stars

Star motifs work in a child's room for a reason that has nothing to do with fashion: a star is one of the first shapes a child learns to recognise and draw, and it carries no gender, no character licensing and no expiry date.

It also survives redecoration. A room built around a cartoon character has to be stripped out when the child moves on. A room built around stars just gets new furniture.
