White in a child's room

White is the braver choice and the more useful one. It works against any wall colour and any bedding, and it makes a small room feel larger — which most nurseries are.

The obvious objection is that it shows everything. That is true and less of a problem than it sounds: white washes hotter than colours without fading, so a white cushion cover generally survives a decade of cleaning better than a dyed one.
