The van

Volkswagen's Type 2 began as a sketch by a Dutch importer who saw workers at the Wolfsburg factory moving parts on a flatbed built from Beetle running gear and asked why they didn't sell it. The Deluxe — with skylight windows, a folding sunroof and chrome trim — was the top of the range. Split-window buses ended production in 1967, which is why that year matters to collectors.
