Wall sculpture vs pictures

A three-dimensional wall piece does something a framed print cannot: it casts a shadow, and the shadow changes through the day. Lit from the side by a window or a lamp, the piece reads differently at ten in the morning than at six in the evening.

Which is why placement matters more than it does for flat art. Put a relief sculpture on a wall that gets raking light rather than one lit flat-on, and it will do considerably more work.
