This 30-inch handcrafted model is meticulously built using the plank-on-frame technique and premium hardwoods such as Red Cedar, Teak, and Mahogany. From the raised missile deck to the distinctive sail (conning tower) shape and British hull lines, this model captures the unmistakable presence of Cold War-era deterrence. HMS Resolution was the lead submarine of the Royal Navy's Resolution-class ballistic missile submarines, commissioned in 1967. It was the United Kingdom's first nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, marking a major step in Britain's nuclear deterrence capability during the Cold War. Measuring about 130 meters in length and displacing around 8,400 tons submerged, Resolution was designed to carry up to 16 Polaris nuclear missiles. The submarine played a vital role in maintaining the UK's strategic nuclear deterrent, conducting continuous patrols to ensure at-sea deterrence. HMS Resolution and her sister vessels were retired by the mid-1990s, replaced by the Vanguard-class submarines. Resolution's service established the foundation of the UK's sea-based nuclear forces and represented a significant technological achievement for British naval engineering.
