Commissioned in 1961, she was built by Newport News Shipbuilding and marked a revolutionary step in naval propulsion and endurance. At over 1,100 feet long, USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier (CVN-65) was the longest warship ever built and featured eight nuclear reactors. During her 51 years of service, she played key roles in major conflicts and missions, including the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam War, and operations in the Middle East. She also participated in humanitarian missions and naval exercises worldwide. USS Enterprise Aircraft Carrier (CVN-65) was decommissioned in 2017 after decades of distinguished service. Her legacy continues as a symbol of innovation and power, with the future USS Enterprise (CVN-80) currently under construction.
