HMS Barham was a Queen Elizabeth-class battleship of the Royal Navy, launched in 1914 and commissioned in 1915. She served in World War I, notably participating in the Battle of Jutland in 1916. In the interwar years, HMS Barham Queen Elizabeth-Class underwent modernization to improve her armor, propulsion, and firepower. During World War II, HMS Barham saw extensive action in the Mediterranean. She took part in the Battle of Dakar in 1940 and supported naval operations during the Battle of Crete and in North Africa. Despite being heavily used in frontline service, she remained a vital part of the Royal Navy's battle fleet. On November 25, 1941, HMS Barham was struck by three torpedoes from German submarine U-331 off the Egyptian coast. She exploded catastrophically and sank within minutes, killing over 800 crew members. The dramatic sinking was captured on film and became one of the most well-known naval losses of the war.
