Thailand HTMS Chakri Naruebet (CVH-911) is Thailand's first and only aircraft carrier, and the flagship of the Royal Thai Navy. Built by Spanish shipbuilder Bazán (now Navantia), she is based on the design of Spanish's Principe de Asturias. Launched in 1996 and commissioned in 1997, she marked a significant step in Thailand's naval modernization. Originally designed to operate with AV-8S Harrier jump jets and S-70B Seahawk helicopters, Thailand HTMS Chakri Naruebet (CVH-911) was intended for power projection, disaster relief, and regional presence. However, the Harriers were retired in the early 2000s due to maintenance and budget constraints, limiting the ship to helicopter operations and patrol duties. Today, Thailand HTMS Chakri Naruebet (CVH-911) serves primarily in humanitarian and disaster relief missions, as well as training exercises. Though not heavily armed, she symbolizes Thailand's naval ambitions and remains the only aircraft carrier in Southeast Asia, contributing to maritime security and national pride.
