HMS Victory Model — Limited Edition Downwind Full Sails, 100 Units | Admiral Line

The same first-rate hull, rigged running before the wind — every sail set and drawing, yards squared, the ship shown driving rather than sitting.

Most Victory models are rigged close-hauled or with sails furled because it is easier. A downwind set means every sail on every mast has to be cut, stitched and hung so the whole rig reads as one moving thing. It roughly doubles the sailmaking and rigging work.

Limited to 100 units

One hundred were produced. Each carries a serial number etched into the hull tying it to its build date, materials and workshop record. When they are gone the edition closes.

Construction

• Plank-on-frame hull in western red cedar, rosewood and mahogany
• Three gun decks, cast cannon both sides
• Full downwind sail set — every yard hung with hand-stitched linen
• Complete hand-knotted standing and running rigging
• Carved and gilded stern gallery, quarter galleries and figurehead
• Ship's boats, capstan, wheel and deck fittings
• Solid wood base and engraved brass nameplate

The ship

Launched at Chatham in 1765, a 104-gun first rate. Nelson flew his flag from her at Trafalgar on 21 October 1805 and was killed aboard her by a French marksman during the action. She remains the oldest commissioned warship in the world.
