Why this ship
A 104-gun first rate launched at Chatham in 1765, Victory was already forty years old when Nelson hoisted his flag in her. At Trafalgar she broke the combined French and Spanish line and took heavy fire from the Redoutable alongside — where the shot that killed Nelson came from. She has been in commission since 1778 and sits in dry dock at Portsmouth.
