The ghost ship that never makes port. A 27-inch wood model of maritime legend's most enduring vessel — tattered sails, weathered hull, and the look of something dragged back from the bottom.
Built plank on frame in western red cedar and mahogany, laid one plank at a time over a wooden frame. Fully assembled, no kit.

The legend
First recorded in print in 1790, the Flying Dutchman is the ship condemned to beat forever against the wind off the Cape of Good Hope, never to reach harbour. Sailors who claimed to see her — including the future King George V in 1881 — took the sighting as an omen. The story has outlived every ship that inspired it, resurfacing in Wagner's opera, Coleridge's imagination and, more recently, on screen.
