Tuiga, a stunning yacht commissioned by the Duke of Medinacelli, was designed by renowned Scottish naval architect William Fife, Junior. Launched in 1909 in Fairlie, Scotland, Tuiga was built as a racing yacht and became one of the most successful and admired yachts of her era. In its early years, Tuiga raced successfully with a British crew, earning numerous second-place finishes behind her twin, the Spanish royal yacht Hispania. Despite not always claiming the top spot, Tuiga's sleek design and fast performance made her a fierce competitor in regattas, particularly in the Mediterranean sailing circuit. Over the years, Tuiga changed hands and names multiple times, but her legacy as a premier racing yacht remained intact. Eventually, the yacht underwent a complete restoration, preserving her original elegance and ensuring that she would continue to sail for future generations. Today, Tuiga belongs to the prestigious Yacht Club de Monaco, where she is carefully maintained and sails in the club's events. The yacht's history, combined with her graceful design, has earned her a special place in the world of classic yachts, and she continues to be celebrated as a symbol of early 20th-century sailing excellence.
