Widely called the most beautiful ship in the world — and the Italian Navy has the signal to prove it.
This painted edition carries her distinctive livery: black hull banded in white, gilt ornament at the bow and stern, and the two white stripes that trace her historic gun ports. Built plank on frame in western red cedar, rosewood and mahogany, fully assembled.

History
Launched at Castellammare di Stabia in 1931 and still in commission, Amerigo Vespucci is the oldest active ship in the Italian Navy. In 1962 the American carrier USS Independence signalled her asking who she was; on receiving the reply, Independence answered: "You are the most beautiful ship in the world." The exchange has followed her ever since.
