Why this ship

Launched on the Clyde in 1869, Cutty Sark was built to win the annual race home from China with the first tea of the season. The Suez Canal opened the same year and handed the trade to steamships, so she made her name in wool instead — running from Australia to London in as little as 73 days. She survives today in dry dock at Greenwich, the last tea clipper in the world.
